Brick between past and future: an exhibition design in Biella

The Seimila project by Abaco continues the process of regeneration of Lanificio Maurizio Sella and welcomes the visions of architectural firms under 30.

For the Premio Maggia architecture award, designers under 30 from all over Italy are invited to rethink strategies and methods of intervention on the built heritage and urban landscape with shared and innovative actions. Young architects' ideas will be on display until 2 February 2020 at the Lanificio Maurizio Sella in Biella, in spaces where Abaco studio has intervened with an installation project that is in tune with the character of the space.

The Seimila project continues a process of overwriting and regenerating the interior through the free use of brick. Architects tell us: “Brick is the building material of the past, present and future. A construction element that is extremely sensitive to the inputs and challenges of our time (sustainability, innovation, creativity...). It is a symbol of that political and cultural continuity that is tangible at Lanificio Sella and a paradigm of cultural and territorial transformation.”
