Manica-Cmr: 16 thousand faces on San Siro

One of the finalist projects for the new stadium in Milan provides two intertwined rings, 60 thousand seats and the old field open to everyone.

The project by Manica and Cmr Sportium architectural firms is one of the finalists for the new San Siro stadium. Called “The rings of Milan”, the new building offers about 60 thousand seats and wants to represent the rivalry and the encounter of the two Milanese teams.

The facade, consisting of two intertwined rings, changes colour depending on the match and shows the faces of 16 thousand fans on the panels who become part of the building and the stadium’s new history. Inside, the seats will be closer to the playing field and two museums will be hosted. Outside, the development of a commercial area and 10 hectares of green spaces are planned. The old field, located not far from the new one, is accessible to everyone.
