A paradise of sustainability and excellence

On the occasion of the 1000 Miglia, Mercedes-Benz Italia made a special trip to Tenuta Bertarello, where chef Giancarlo Morelli explored the link between tradition and innovation, a central theme for the brand.

Set in the green hills of the Tuscia region of Viterbo is the Tenuta Bertarello; created by Beatrice Peruzzi, it stands out as a beacon of sustainability and the circular economy in the world of organic farming.

With 40 hectares of land this jewel provides not only a countryside retreat of tranquility and beauty but also an example of how agricultural tradition and respect for the environment can coexist:  from natural fertiliser made using manure from the horses on the farm to the total absence of pesticides and toxic chemical products, the principles of organic farming are applied to the entire production cycle. A mark of this attention is the small orchard of rare native plants threatened by extinction that preserves plant varieties that are at risk of disappearing.

We are greeted at the door of the Tenuta Bertarello by chef Giancarlo Morelli (one of the 25 most influential in Italy according to Forbes), brand ambassador for Mercedes-Benz Italia who, along the route of the 1000 Miglia, has chosen to make a pleasant detour to the place where many of the products he uses in his cooking come from. It is an opportunity to present and compare two iconic models of Mercedes-Benz: the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing and the new Mercedes AMG SL, together symbolising the close link between past and future that has always been part of the Stuttgart company’s DNA.

The 300 SL, with its characteristic gull-wing doors, in fact represents an icon of automobile history, while the new Mercedes AMG SL embodies modernity and technological evolution, keeping alive the brand’s pioneering spirit. A connection between tradition and innovation that perfectly reflects the philosophy of the Tenuta Bertarello and thanks to Mercedes Benz, this continuous thread finds an immediate correspondence.
