The programme of the 57th edition of Marmomac, the International Exhibition of Natural Stone, scheduled in Verona from 26 to 29 September, has been unveiled.
Marmomac, this year scheduled from 26 to 29 September 2023, is considered the most relevant world exhibition in the stone production field: a place where experiments between natural stone and machines meet, design and art dialogue, and the best innovations concerning the entire supply chain, from quarrying to semi-finished and finished products, are discovered. Established in one of Italy's main quarrying and processing districts for natural stone, the Verona Marble Exhibition is today an international hub uniting professionals from the entire sector. Now in its 57th edition, the trade fair has evolved over time into both a physical and virtual platform where business, research and professional training meet.
The beating heart of Marmomac, representative of the fair's overall approach, will be Hall 10. Design, architecture and stone culture will meet business through exhibitions and a busy schedule of appointments, workshops and talks in the Forum area. The dominant theme is the relationship between natural stone and machines. The entire space of Hall 10 will develop as a square-based district, whose main axes intersect to create an installation: The Applaud, designed by Giorgio Canale, celebrating the contribution of the latest generation of machines, the latest technologies and man to natural stone.
Raffaello Galiotto will curate Herbarium Mirabile, an exhibition that presents itself as an imaginary herbarium populated by a series of artistic works in marble inspired by the plant kingdom. The author draws inspiration from the fascinating variety of botanical forms to create, through the use of software and numerically controlled machines, a collection of fantastic sculptures of refined elegance and high precision. The aim of the exhibition is the exploration of the potential of new digital tools in the advanced processing of natural stone and the development of this new expressive language.
Academic training is entrusted to Giuseppe Fallacara who for the 2023 edition of "Marmomac meets Academies" will involve Italian and foreign universities and research centres: contemporary ways of shaping a timeless material will be explored. Lithic synergies, on the other hand, will be proposed in Material Match Up by ADI Delegation Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige, a collaborative project targeting the entire stone supply chain. This experimentation aims to affirm that among the skills of a designer, whether designing products, interiors, fittings or visual communication, there is the ability to select and enhance the materials used.
Acting as a counterbalance to Hall 10, in a diametrically opposite position, is Hall 1, which this year is transformed into A Matter of Stone, with a layout designed by the Calvi Brambilla studio. This is a real commercial pavilion where companies will exhibit projects and design products, creating a creative space where architects, interior designers and professionals, called upon to decide on the use of materials in construction and furnishing, will be able to find inspiration and applications that show the great potential of the stone sector.
Finally, the traditional appointments for companies and the public return, including the Best Communicator Award dedicated to the stands that will stand out for the most incisive and original exhibition language. New this year is the involvement of the students of the Exhibit Design, Publishing and Digital Graphic Design course of the IUSVE (Salesian University Institute of Venice) invited to analyse the proposals and decree their personal winner who will receive a special mention.
