New Made in Italy boutique on Madison Avenue

Studio B+ Architects has designed Kiton’s new flagship store in New York, characterised by the dialogue between the textured fabrics of the Gavatex collection and the characteristic patterns of the fashion brand.

Madison Avenue in New York City is considered the fashion street par excellence. One particular stretch of it, from 57th to 79th Street, is called the 'Italian Mile' because of the high concentration of Italian luxury boutiques: from Armani to Valentino, Prada to Versace. The new New York flagship store of Kiton, an Italian brand that has been synonymous with elegance and exclusivity for decades, stands on this stretch. The retail space has been designed by B+ Architects, who have integrated the interior spaces with those of the street. The shop window and entrance are deliberately minimal, eliminating the feeling of crossing some kind of boundary; the transition is fluid and inviting. But it is the interior design that best represents the spirit of the brand: the architectural identity that defines the interior is linear and combines simple shapes and neutral colours with soft finishes. Protagonists of the space are the textured fabrics of the Gavatex collection. Resistant, fire retardant, decorative, paintable, ecological and hygienic: those of the Gavatex family are fibreglass fabrics for finishing all interior surfaces, an alternative to traditional fabric or paper wall coverings.

Gavatex fabrics dialogue with the unmistakable pattern that distinguishes Kiton, and which in the shop is translated by a series of decorative installations made with a mix of the brand's finest blue fabrics. The lighting, which blends with natural light, has been designed to guarantee maximum visual comfort, and the luminaires equipped with high colour rendering LEDs allow perfect product display. The brand's strong focus on sustainability and environmental awareness, on the other hand, is evident in the choice of flooring made from a composite of recycled inert materials.
