Patricia Urquiola’s excellent Shimmer collection features prominently on the stand after making its debut a couple of years ago. She has added mirrors and taller tables to the low and console ones in laminated and glued glass with a special iridescent multicolour finish, the colours changing according to the viewing angle and that of the incidence of the light.
Not far away is another lovely design by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec. Nesting is a square low table with a glass top in thick poured glass and cylindrical blown-glass legs. Complex processes are employed to embed and weld the legs into the thickness of the totally transparent top. The top and leg colours can be mixed and matched but when different the fusion produces fascinating colour variations in the transparent material.
Philippe Starck also makes a contribution with Lady Hio, a collection of tables with a bevelled top in ultra-light transparent crystal (15 millimetres) and removable legs in borosilicate glass, blown and shaped. These are screwed to the top and touch the floor with brushed and anodised aluminium details.
Piero Lissoni has drawn on his childhood memories, choosing crystal printed with stripes or squares, toughened and glued at 45°, with mirror-finish detailing for Commodore, a furniture series in essential forms with sliding doors into Plexiglas runners.
