5000 pieces of glass give rise to a space where visitors experience the “amorphous” nature of glass welcoming them into a molecular structure enlarged one billion times. #MDW2016
Working with the creators of new materials without remaining trapped within the narrow confines of one sector, Eisuke Tachikawa, CEO of design studio Nosigner, and Izumi Okayasu, a lighting designer, have produced a lightweight, flexible and expressive glass installation that transforms the conventional image of glass, exploring new aspects and its importance as a design material.
The star feature of the installation, Dragontrail™, is the latest technological revolution from AGC and it represents the glass of the future: thin, chemically strengthened glass that has found a natural application as smartphone and tablet covers. Its extremely strong, light and flexible surface as too its high resistance to scratching and breakage differentiate it from the most ordinary glasses, thanks to a special reinforcing treatment applied during the production process, allowing its use in a wider range of sectors for the first time.
The installation presents thin glass strengthened with a vast range of treatments, enabling visitors to appreciate the different structures and endless variety of effects.
