Mille-Feuille is a collaborative work by Emmanuelle Moureaux with Schonbuch presented at the 2013 “Wallpaper* Handmade” exhibition in Milan.
Imagined as thin layers of coloured sheets scattered in the air, then settling randomly on top of each other, creating overhangs and recessions, the Mille-Feuille storage series, designed by Emmanuelle Moureaux, and created by German furniture manufacturer Schonbuch was presented at the “Wallpaper* Handmade” Exhibition in Milan.
Employing her signature use of colour, Moureaux draws inspiration from similar but larger-scale previous explorations, such as her Sugamo Shinkin Bank (Shimura Branch) project.
The colourful storage pieces are handmade out of layers of lacquered MDF and come in three sizes, 21 layers for a multicolor cabinet, 12 layers for a green-blue low cabinet and 8 layers for a yellow-pink bedside cabinet, all containing hidden drawers. The function of the Mille-Feuille may change according to the numbers of layers and the concept can be developed for other functions as a low table or a shelf.
