Dotted around the showroom are the curved silhouettes of the Moon chairs (all only white), the form of which – as Tokujin tells us – was prompted by observation of the different positions people adopt when sitting on chairs. Made of plastic or polyurethane and fabric, the chair was inspired by the full Moon (seen from above) and the crescent moon (seen sideways).
Still shaken by the recent earthquake that devastated his country, Tokujin says nature always fascinates him, even when it uses immense force to manifest its more malign side. "Once again, I am struck by how significant nature continues to be for us, as we co-exist with it", he explains.
