Combining digital graphics and Japanese raku firing technique, young Austrian firm Karak opened its doors to the public during the Vienna Design Week.
Karak is a young tile manufacturing firm based in Vorarlberg, Austria, which combines tradition and modernity in handmade clay products. The use of Japanese raku firing technology and digital graphics creates unique surfaces to design tiles.Â
During the Vienna Design Week 2016, as part of the Program Partners, the workspace of the manufacturers became an ornamental laboratory. The studio’s white titles will be covered one after the other with hand-drawn motifs. Visitors are invited to join in the quest for new forms based on geometric grids on the walls in order to transform the entire room into a playground of lively ornament.Â
