At POW! WOW! Hawaii HotTea transformed street art into yarn installations on the island’s beaches, creating a sunset broken into three different parts.
HotTea’s intervention at POW! WOW! Hawaii speaks about the beauty of Hawaii not only visually but spiritually and as a community.
The Minneapolis-based street artist created a sunset broken into three different parts that represent Today, Tomorrow and Forever. The sense of community within the island is very powerful and many people look out for one another. Not only in the moment but tomorrow and forever. Which is also the title of the piece.
He also created a performance element to this piece. There were four people (including the artist himself) who interacted with the installation by slowly walking through the different sections of the piece. They wore oversized blue t-shirts with clouds painted on them to represent clouds gently grazing an actual sunset. It also brought a human element to the piece which also relates to HotTea’s idea of fusing visuals with humanity.
