Velux Group, a manufacturer of pitched roof windows, is using new sustainable packaging for its best-selling pieces. 90% of its packaging is now plastic-free and made from a single FSC-certified cardboard-based material. This decision will save the company up to 900 tonnes of plastic per year and simplify disposal, which if not carried out correctly has a negative impact on biodiversity and the natural environment. Reducing plastic waste is a current and priority need: on a global scale, 300 million tonnes of plastic are produced each year. The company’s packaging has been renewed by removing the expanded polystyrene (EPS) parts, reducing its carbon footprint by 13%. By 2030, the brand is aiming for sustainability and environmentally friendly packaging made of a plastic-free material, 100% recyclable.
