“It’s aimed at those who wish to participate authentic space tourism at an affordable price point,” said Michael R. Henderson, Co-Founder of Moon World Resorts. The main attraction of the “Moon” in fact is a mock-up lunar surface to explore, at a cost of $500. To get to the Moon, guests will also take a ride in a Shuttle, which will move within the void area of the inner sphere of the building. The “Moon” will be also lit-up at night to mimic the phases of the actual Moon.
“Moon” requires a year of pre-development planning program, followed by a four year build out process. Its construction would cost $5 billion. At the moment there are tentative plans for more resorts: in the US, United Arab Emirates, Spain and Singapore.
A relevant part of Rem Koolhaas’s Delirious New York is dedicated to the golden age of Coney Island and the Luna Park. Maybe this new iteration of a concept somehow similar will some day stand as a symbol of our times.
