Japanese designer Nao Tamura has designed a wooden stool for the Project 2012 Designs for Nature series, which celebrates Finnish furniture brand Nikari's philosophy and wood design ideology. In 2012, the brand has asked twelve designers or design studios to consider the brand's philosophy, manifesting their comments in the form of a wooden product. The series is a collaboration between Nikari and Finnish WWF and part of the sales price is donated to protecting rainforests and forests globally.

Nao Tamura's July (woodcuts) is a wooden stool inspired by the intrinsic beauty of imperfection. Like a bundle of wooden logs, three individual "slices" — unequal in size, varied in grain and color, and uneven surface angles, unite to create a beautiful, singular form. Each stool enjoys its own sense of individuality. Together, in multiples, they seek to create a sculptural seating display for gathering spaces.

Other designers in the project include Harri Koskinen, Thomas Sandell, Martí Guixé, Alfredo Häberli, Simo Heikkilä, Mikko Paakkanen, Nao Tamura, Aamu Song, Johan Olin, Mikhail Barashkov, Samuli Naamanka, Louise Campbell, Jasper Morrison, and Wataru Kumano.
