In Japan, Alts Design Office has renovated a traditional Japanese house and adapted it to the needs of a young family. Renewal is characterized by the harmony of the new elements, grafted into the ancient structure without ruining it. This house in its outcome becomes a bridge of connection between new and ancient. As a first step, the expansion following the original construction was eliminated. In this way the house is back to the original style of the rice field, the basis for inserting the new elements. The original Japanese style room has been transformed into a garden, the side of the edge has been created to be external, creating comfort of the space in which various elements are intertwined. Some internal functions have been placed externally, in this way space has been gained for the new internal elements.
