In 1961 the first of the eight editions of “Archigram” came out, a publication which proclaimed a new and highly illustrative approach to the design of cities and living spaces inspired greatly by the group’s interest in both cinema and comics.
The exhibition “Living City” in 1963 at the Institute of Contemporary Arts presented the first opportunity to put forward their theories. Reyner Banham soon became their mentor and spokesman.
In 1968, with the participation at the youth Biennial in Paris, the group took on the name “Archigram Architects”.
Archigram Architects officially disbanded in 1976.
